UPDATE: Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, and Squash

Bell pepper, cucumber, and squash production will transition north over the next two to three weeks. Expect rising markets as regions in Southern Florida and Mainland Mexico wind down, and harvesting moves north into Southern California, Northern Florida, and Georgia.

 

Bell Peppers

  • Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green Bell Peppers are available in California, Florida, and Nogales, Arizona (from Mexico)
  • MFC Red Bell Peppers are available in Nogales. MFC Red Bell Peppers will be available in Coachella, CA by May 9
    • Mexican bell pepper supplies into Nogales and South Texas are ample but will wind down by late May
    • Good supplies are expected in Coachella through early June as production moves further north into Fresno
    • Markets are rising as the Mexico season winds down and production transitions into California
  • Southern Florida regions will wind down production over the next two weeks; Southern Georgia will begin producing by May 16
  • East Coast supplies are ample with good quality; markets will remain stable over the next two weeks

Cucumbers

  • MFC Cucumbers are available in Florida and Nogales (from Mexico)
  • Regions in Baja, MX will increase production over the next two weeks
  • Mainland Mexico supplies, into Nogales, will finish by May 23
    • Expect lighter West Coast supplies as the season transitions
    • Markets will be active
  • Southern Georgia harvesting will ramp up over the next 10 to 14 days as Northern Florida winds down
    • East Coast cucumber quality is good; expect dark color and consistent sizing
    • Markets will rise over the next two weeks as harvesting transitions

Eggplant

  • MFC Eggplants are available in Florida and Nogales
    • Production will increase in Coachella over the next two weeks
    • MFC Eggplants will be available in Coachella the week of May 16

Squash

  • MFC Squash is available in Georgia, and will be available in Santa Maria, CA by May 30
  • Mexican supplies will continue to cross into Nogales through May, winding down by early June
  • Harvesting in Fresno and Santa Maria, California will begin by May 16, reaching full production by May 30
  • Georgia production is in full swing; ample volume and stable markets are expected over the next two weeks
