The California green bell pepper season is well underway. Red bell pepper production starts next week. Harvesting is winding down in Florida and Mexico.
 
Green Bells

• Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green Bell Peppers are available
• The Mexican season is winding down
  • Extra-large supplies are limited
  • Quality is good
• The California desert season is in its fourth week of harvesting
  • Supplies are ample
  • Quality is excellent
• East Coast growers have reduced production as crops transition from Plant City, Florida to Georgia over the next one to two weeks
  • Large and medium sizes dominate supplies
  • Quality is average
• Expect steady prices over the next two weeks

Red Bells

• California growers will start shipping MFC and ESS Red Bell Peppers the week of May 24
• Mexican supplies have increased a bit; growers are harvesting the last crops of the season over the next two to three weeks
• California’s Coachella Valley season is starting later this week
  • Size is dominated by large peppers
  • Quality is excellent
• East Coast production is transitioning from Florida to Georgia over the next few weeks; red and yellow peppers are limited in this region
• Expect steady to slightly lower prices over the next two weeks
