UPDATE: Bell Peppers

Green bell pepper prices remain elevated; supplies are extremely tight. Expect high markets for one to two more weeks. Red bell pepper prices are lower; West Coast supplies are sufficient.
West Coast
- Markon First Crop (MFC) and Markon Essentials (ESS) Green and Red Bell Peppers are limited; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed

The season in mainland Mexico is winding down
- Green bell shipments (crossing into Nogales, Arizona and South Texas) will slow way down after this week
- Red bell supplies (into Nogales) will remain available for two or three more weeks
- Red and yellow supplies from Baja, Mexico are available for loading in San Diego, California
- California production continues to ramp up
- Green bells are limited due to extremely strong demand; size is dominated by extra-large and large sizes
- Red bell production is off to a good start in the desert region; supplies are adequate
- Many growers are harvesting red bells early while they are still green and selling them as green bell peppers to help meet demand
- Green bell prices have peaked and will begin to ease in one to two weeks when supplies increase on the East Coast
East Coast
- MFC and ESS Green Bell Peppers are limited; packer label supplies are being substituted as needed
- The Southern Florida season ended this week due to significant rainfall

East Coast bell pepper production has moved to Northern Florida and will be transitioning to Georgia over the next two weeks
- Georgia production is behind 7 to 10 days due to rain and cool weather earlier this year
- Growers expect to begin harvesting in a limited manner on May 24 or 25
- The green bell market has peaked; supplies are extremely limited
- Prices will ease the week of May 28 once Georgia production increases
