Lettuce and leafy greens quality and supply out of California’s Salinas Valley remains very strong overall, but some varying levels of internal burn in recent romaine lots has caused shelf-life performance issues. These issues are not widespread, but can lead to early breakdown/decay.

Markon inspectors can confirm there may still be some hit and miss issues in the pipeline, but moving forward, quality is looking much stronger and our suppliers are focused on producing the best finished product for Ready-Set-Serve (RSS) items. Attached are photos taken yesterday of incoming raw product and RSS Chopped Romaine being processed.
