FROM THE FIELDS: SALINAS VALLEY WARMING TREND

July 22, 2019

California’s Salinas Valley weather forecast calls for abnormally warm and humid weather starting today, July 22, and persisting through the week. Coastal temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 70s by mid-week and inland Salinas Valley may experience as high as upper 80s to 90s.

Markon inspectors will be monitoring supplies and selecting the best lots available, but do expect to see many of the heat-related quality issues listed below through next week. Ordering for quick turns is recommended; maintaining the cold chain is critical for maximizing quality and shelf-life.
