FROM THE FIELDS: Salinas Valley Rain Update

May 15, 2019

California’s Salinas Valley began receiving light showers this morning. Heavier rain and possible thunderstorms are expected later today and through the evening hours. After a light clearing Thursday morning, more rain is to follow off and on through Saturday, May 18. Approximately one-half inch to three quarters of an inch may be recorded.

Pending actual rainfall totals and field conditions, some harvesting and loading delays are likely to occur over the next few days. Markon has instructed suppliers to pack orders ahead for Salinas Valley row crop items in order to minimize the storm’s impact on supply levels.
