Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Iceberg and Romaine Lettuce items are limited; Markon Best Available is being substituted as needed. MFC Premium Green Leaf is available.

California’s Salinas Valley has experienced mild temperatures over the past week, with little variance between daytime highs and overnight lows; humidity levels have also been above normal. The conditions have caused a spike in mildew and aphid pressure in many lettuce crops as well as some sporadic internal burn and decay issues in some romaine supplies.

Harvesting crews will be trimming heads extensively to reduce some of the above-mentioned defects, but they will not be able to eliminate all of them completely. Markon inspectors are working with growers to select the best lots available for packing Markon orders.
