FROM THE FIELDS: Rain in Oxnard, California
January 03, 2019
The Oxnard, California growing region is expecting anywhere from .75” to 1.5” of rainfall that will start on the afternoon of Saturday, January 5 and continue into early Sunday morning, January 6. Muddy field conditions that follow could cause harvesting delays and/or quality issues for Oxnard crops that include:
- Celery
- Cilantro
- Parsley
- Strawberries
New crop strawberries in the area have firm texture and have held up well to light showers recently, but growers will be more concerned if an inch or more of rain is recorded this weekend, and another chance for showers exists for January 8 and January 10.
