FROM THE FIELDS: Poor Field Conditions in Huron, CA
San Joaquin Valley’s Huron region received two to three inches of rain between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening March 20-22. No more rain is in the forecast today, but the muddy field conditions have forced some lettuce suppliers to cancel or curtail harvesting for the third consecutive day. Production is expected to resume Saturday, March 24, but production delays can be expected as crews struggle to work in the wet and muddy field conditions.
Another .10-.20 inches of rain are forecast between Saturday evening, March 24 and Sunday morning, March 25, followed by dry conditions and cool temperatures early next week.
Markon inspectors will continue to assess quality and update further on the impact of the wet weather as needed.
