FROM THE FIELDS: Long Core in Salinas, California Lettuce Items

The recent extreme heat experienced in California’s Salinas Valley has caused quality concerns in various crops. Long core, also known as seeder, is one of the issues manifesting in some iceberg and romaine fields.
Not all fields have the issue, but we expect to see an increase in seeders (core material) in some commodity packs as well as Ready-Set-Serve salads and Washed & Trimmed items.
