FROM THE FIELDS: LETTUCE ICE

November 10, 2020

The Salinas and Huron, California growing regions are experiencing a second consecutive morning of lettuce ice and harvesting delays, with morning temperatures in the low-to-upper 30°s. The Yuma, Arizona region did not receive ice yesterday, but will see light ice and delayed start times in colder areas today as growers wait for crops to sufficiently thaw before harvesting.

More ice is forecast for the above-mentioned areas tomorrow morning and Thursday, November 12, followed by a chance for scattered showers Thursday evening into Friday, the 13 in Salinas and Huron. We are tracking a more significant rain event that may take place on November 17-18 with upwards of an inch of rainfall possible and will update further as needed.
