FROM THE FIELDS: Harvesting Disruptions in Oxnard, California

January 14, 2019

The Oxnard, California growing region is experiencing light rainfall that will increase in severity throughout the morning. Some strawberry growers packed ahead yesterday in anticipation of the rain and will attempt to harvest more today until conditions become too difficult, but most expect to cancel production at some point. Other key crops in the area that may experience harvesting disruptions include celery, cilantro, and parsley.

The series of storms passing over California this week could bring over four inches of rain to the Oxnard area by Friday, January 18.
