FROM THE FIELDS: Desert Region Rain Update

December 09, 2019
Yuma, Arizona and the surrounding growing areas received between .05” and .30” of rainfall between Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8. There is a chance for more isolated showers through this afternoon, but it’s currently not raining.

Harvesting and loading delays caused by muddy field conditions can be expected to continue for most desert row crops over the next several days. Markon inspectors have already observed increased mildew, internal burn, and premature pinking in some commodity and value-added packs due to recent rain and humid conditions, and will continue to monitor supplies for any further quality developments.
