The Coachella, California growing region is receiving heavy rainfall this morning, forcing lettuce and leaf growers in the area to cancel the day’s harvest. The greater Yuma, Arizona region is expecting this same storm system to arrive around mid-day today. Harvesting crews are quickly trying to pack orders there before the rain begins.

 

Approximately .75” may be recorded in the Yuma region and Coachella may receive up to 1.50”. Harvesting and loading delays can be expected in both areas for the next few days due to muddy fields; lettuce ice is expected to cause more delays into this coming weekend.
