Markon First Crop (MFC) Premium Green Leaf, Iceberg, and Romaine Lettuce packs are available. Quality is very good; case weights are high.

Markon inspectors have been monitoring supplies of commodity and value-added lettuce items after a series of storms brought over two inches of rainfall to the Arizona/California desert growing region in late January. The rain and strong winds had the potential to cause widespread quality and shelf-life concerns, but as of now, the impact has not been as significant as originally anticipated.

Temperatures over the last few days have been above normal and forecasts are calling for more warm weather through most of the week, which will continue to promote growth and increase case weights. Markon inspectors will now be watching for signs of a potential supply gap sometime in early March if rapid growth continues and growers are forced to abandon overmature lots and reach into younger plantings.
