Periods of rain and heat over the last few weeks have caused widespread mildew at the field level in both commodity and value-added items. Suppliers are bypassing fields, as necessary, and trimming damaged leaves to avoid the worst of the quality issues.

 

Current forecasts call for temperatures in the low to mid-80s over the next several days, which will continue to accelerate maturity as well as quality concerns.
