Commodity and value-added celery quality is excellent; supplies are abundant in California’s Salinas and Santa Maria Valleys. There has been far less impact from the recent heat, fires, and plant virus issues in celery compared to what’s currently being observed in iceberg and leaf lettuce crops, with only minor ash in the upper canopy of leaves that is removed before packing. Expect high volume over the next several weeks.
