Salinas Valley

  • The Watsonville/Salinas season is winding down
  • Above-normal temperatures and humid conditions have been recorded throughout August, creating quality concerns
  • Growers are keeping crops watered and picking on tighter schedules to limit quality issues

Santa Maria

  • Fall supplies are limited, but will increase steadily as September progresses
  • Emerging fall crop berries are exhibiting good size and color, but flavor is not as sweet as Watsonville fruit
  • Summer crop varieties are declining in quality and size
