Salinas crops continue to see effects from fires, Produce Blue Book

"The fires near Salinas, CA, growing regions in August continue to cause problems for growers, even after many have been contained. Over the Labor Day weekend, firefighters contained two major fires in Monterey County, the 48,000 acre River Fire and the 6,900 acre Carmel Fire. Mark Shaw, vice president of operations for Markon Cooperative, Salinas, said ashes from the fires remain a problem for many crops."
