Markon Launches New Website and Social Media

May 01, 2012

Markon Cooperative, Inc., the produce source of nine independently owned foodservice companies, has unveiled its redesigned website and social media channels.

The revamped website—which builds off of an interactive strategy that started more than a decade ago—includes features such as produce flavor profiles, an extensive recipe library, food safety alerts, information about how weather is affecting harvesting, and the ability to “Ask a Markon Chef,” which is part of its culinary hub of information in the “Markon on Your Menu” section. The site also includes a mobile version and connects users to the company’s social outlets: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and the Markon blog: Seedlings.

“Our fresh fruit and vegetable products are in stride with what restaurant patrons are asking for at the foodservice level,” explains Markon’s President, Tim York. “By offering educational data and practical tools through these different avenues we will enable our cooperative members to reach a wider audience. Markon aims to position ourselves as the produce resource and our website and social media platforms do this by providing inspirational, culinary content about all things related to fresh produce.”

The goal of this improved technology is to help Markon member companies connect with operators and their customers to increase the consumption and enjoyment of fresh produce. With over 25 years of experience in the fruit and vegetable arena, Markon has a lot to share and plans to spread the healthy produce message through these multifaceted social media arenas.
