FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: Korean Food Co. Recalls Soybean Sprouts
This update does not apply to any Markon First Crop, Ready-Set-Serve, or Markon Essentials products.
Korean Food Co., of Irving Texas, is recalling Go-Hang Soybean sprouts distributed between January 30, 2015 and February 6, 2015 due to potential contamination with Listeria Monocytogenes. The recall was a result of routine sampling program by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A total of 8 boxes (20 bags per box) containing 1 lb. and 2 lb. bags are included in this recall with the following bar code information:
1LB SOYBEAN SPROUT BAR CODE- 4205312100
2LB SOYBEAN SPROUT BAR CODE- 42053-13650
The affected products were distributed to KO-MART in Dallas, Texas, H-MART in Plano, Texas, and in Carrollton retail stores in Texas. No illnesses that have been reported to date and Korean Food Co. has ceased the production and distribution of the product as the investigation continues.
Consumers who have purchased Korean Food Co. Soybean Sprouts in 1 lb and 2 lb plastic bags are urged to return the bags to their place of purchase.
No Markon products are included in this voluntary recall nor did Markon purchase any of the implicated items from Korean Food Co. Please remember to physically check your inventory to ensure none of the affected products are in your warehouse.
