FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: Hanbit Enterprises, Inc recalls Soybean Sprouts

Hanbit Enterprises, Inc dba Jack and the Beanstalk, of Salinas California, is recalling Soybean sprouts distributed up to February 12, 2015 with Best if Used by dates up to February 19, 2015 due to potential contamination with Listeria Monocytogenes. The recall was a result of routine sampling program by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Soybean sprouts included in this recall are in 1lb, 1.5lb, and 10lb in Natto plastic bags with the following bar code information:

1.5LB SOYBEAN SPROUT BAR CODE – 7-27580-12365-2


10LB SOYBEAN SPROUT BAR CODE – 7-27580-12351-5


NATTO SOYBEAN SPROUT BAR CODE – 7-27580-12367-6

 


The affected products were distributed to California Bay Area stores and restaurants.  No illnesses that have been reported to date and Hanbit Enterprises, Inc has ceased the production and distribution of the product as the investigation continues.

 

Consumers who have purchased Hanbit Enterprises, Inc Soybean Sprouts in 1 lb, 1.5 lb and 10 lb plastic bags are urged to return the bags to their place of purchase.

 

No Markon products are included in this voluntary recall nor did Markon purchase any of the implicated items from Hanbit Enterprises, Inc. Please remember to physically check your inventory to ensure none of the affected products are in your warehouse.
