FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: Fresh Express Recalls Caesar Salad Kits Due to Allergen

Fresh Express, Inc., of Orlando, FL, has issued a voluntary recall of 2,449 cases of Caesar Salad Kit retail packs of due to possible exposure to a tree nut allergen (walnut). The recall was initiated after Fresh Express learned of two bags of salad kits that were mistakenly packed with incorrect condiments containing walnuts and therefore do not contain an allergen declaration. The affected lot was packed in a 7.6 oz. bag, UPC Code 0 71279 30100 6, Production Code G163B13A and Use-By Date of June 26.

 

The recalled kits may have been distributed to retail outlets in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico.

 

There have been no reported illnesses associated with these products at this time.

 

No Markon products are included in this voluntary recall nor did Markon purchase any of the implicated items from Fresh Express, Inc. Please remember to physically check your inventory to ensure none of the affected products are in your warehouse.
