FOOD SAFETY UPDATE: Fresh Express Recalls Baby Spinach Due to Allergen

Fresh Express, Inc., of Salinas, CA, has issued a voluntary recall of 350 cases of retail packs of Baby Spinach due to possible exposure to a tree nut allergen (almond). The recall was initiated after a single almond was found to have infiltrated the production supply. The affected lot was packed in a 12 oz. bag, UPC Code 0 71279 27111 8, Production Code G010A17A and Use-By Date of January 24.

 

The affected products may have been distributed to retail outlets in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

 

There have been no reported illnesses related to these products at this time.

 

No Markon products are included in this voluntary recall nor did Markon purchase any of the implicated items from Fresh Express. Please remember to physically check your inventory to ensure none of the affected products are in your warehouse.
