Rainfall in California’s Central Valley (also known as the San Joaquin Valley) growing region slowed citrus harvesting earlier this week, causing muddy conditions, wet fruit, and further limiting supplies. Growers must allow groves and fruit to dry before harvesting once rain subsides; order lead time is encouraged. Dry conditions are forecast for the upcoming weekend and into early next week. Growers will utilize breaks in the rainy weather to harvest as much fruit as possible. More rain is expected by the middle of next week.

• Current supplies are dominated by fancy grade fruit; choice-grade sizes are tight  (approximately 80% fancy/20% choice)
• Substituting fancy grade grade at a slightly higher price may be necessary for order coverage
• Order lead time is encouraged to help fill orders
• Quality is very good
• California is the primary growing region; supplies out of Florida and Texas remain very limited
• Markets are higher; prices are inching up due to fewer supplies
