Receiving Inspecting:

Berries should be firm, plump, and dry, deep purple or blue-black in color with a “bloom”. Blueberries do not ripen after harvest.

Storage Handling:
 

Short-term storage recommendation (7 days or less)

  • 32° F/1° C
  • 90-98% relative humidity

Proper storage is critical to shelf-life.

Shelf-Life:
10 to 18 days.
Troubleshooting:

Shriveling, tough-textured skin, mold, and leaking may result from improper storage. Loss of bloom indicates rough handling.

Usage Ideas:

  • Mix blueberries in corn muffin batter; serve on breakfast buffets and with lunch salads.
  • Combine sparkling cider, blueberries, and gelatin; chill until firm; slice into cubes and use to garnish cheese plates and desserts.
