Markon Live from the Fields: Huron Harvesting Transition, October 11, 2012, Huron, California

John Galvez, Markon's quality assurance director, reports live from Huron, California where the iceberg lettuce transition from Salinas has begun. Markon inspectors are reporting light weights and poor quality in early season Huron stocks. Issues of bottom rot, long core/seeders, puffy texture, and ribby shape may be present in most lots for several weeks. Markon inspectors will monitor quality and work with growers to pack in the best available fields.
