Volatile weather, shorter daytime hours, and longer days-to-harvest time continue to affect most Salinas-based crops. Defects in commodity lettuce crops include mildew pressure, fragile leaf texture, and dehydration while value-added salads and tender leaf items are exhibiting inconsistent shelf-life.
