LIVE FROM THE FIELDS: Leaf Lettuce in Huron, California

A small amount of leaf lettuce production began in the Huron region last week. Romaine and green leaf crops in the area are exhibiting very good quality; yields are high. Increased insect pressure is often a concern in Huron during the spring season, but current insect activity is very low. Operators are encouraged to remove the lower core section of the heads and conduct a thorough rinse of field-packed romaine and green leaf items
