John Galvez, Markon's quality assurance director, reports live from Yuma, Arizona where a small number of grower-shippers have begun harvesting iceberg lettuce. Recent hot temperatures have caused issues like growth cracks, rib blight, and sun scalding in many lots. Some of those defects can be removed, but will negatively affect weight and color. Markon inspectors will continue to monitor fields in key growing regions and provide updates on product conditions.
