Live From the Fields: Yuma Mildew Pressure
Desert region weather has been unseasonably warm and humid over the last several days, causing a spike in mildew pressure. Lettuces are more susceptible to mildew, but other crops such as broccoli and some tender leaf items can also be affected. Harvesting and processing crews will not be able to completely remove mildew or mildew damage in heavily affected lots. Markon inspectors will be monitoring commodity and value-added suppliers closely.--Quality Assurance Director John Galvez
