"I spent my college summers fighting wild fires up and down California. When we received a dispatch, we weren't always sure where we were heading, when we'd be home, when we would see our families again, or if we would have cell service, but it was always guaranteed that we would have a warm meal, fresh fruit, and a salad bar at fire camp. During the summer of 2015, I spent nearly three weeks in Hyampom, a town of 241 people and 2 or so hours from the nearest grocery. It was incredible to watch truckloads of fresh food arrive every day to feed the 3,000 plus fire fighters in a town without cell reception. What the produce industry does to provide fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables anywhere, regardless of cell service or internet connection, is a beautiful thing, and it is rewarding to be a part of it."
