Onions

Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington

• Markon First Crop (MFC) Red and Yellow Onions from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington will be on the market through early May
• Remaining storage stocks are small in size
• White onions are nearly depleted; supplies will be very sporadic as the season concludes
• Expect diminishing quality in storage shipments as the season wraps up

South Texas and Mexico

• Fresh-run, Texas-grown onions will have a small profile, mostly yielding medium and jumbo sizes
• Medium- and jumbo-size onions also dominate Mexican-grown red, white, and yellow stocks crossing into South Texas
• Fresh-run onions will have feathery skins and light color/exterior skins compared to Northwest storage onions
• Jumbo yellow No. 2 onions are not available in Texas due to a federal marketing order

California

• Limited supplies of MFC Yellow Onions will become available next week
• MFC Red Onions will start shipping the week of April 23

New Mexico

• MFC Red and Yellow Onions are forecast to hit the market in early May
