Expect tight supplies for the next couple weeks; prices will increase. The broccoli and cauliflower seasons are wrapping up in the Arizona/California desert growing region, cooler-than-normal California temperatures are delaying projected harvesting start dates in the Salinas Valley. The cauliflower market is rising now; broccoli prices will follow suit in the coming weeks.

• Markon First Crop Broccoli Crowns are available in Mexico (into South Texas) and Yuma, Arizona; Markon Best Available is being substituted when needed
  • Mexican quality is very good: heads have uniform beads and dark green color
  • Broccoli grown in the Arizona/California desert is showing slight yellowing  
• Markon Essentials Cauliflower is available in Yuma, Arizona
• Overall quality is very good
• Creamy color remains an occasional issue
