FROM THE FIELDS: More Lettuce Ice in the Desert Regions
December 26, 2017
Temperatures in the California and Arizona desert growing regions once again dropped into the low to mid-30s causing widespread lettuce ice and harvesting delays. Most crews were delayed up to three hours as they wait for the product to thaw before harvest can proceed.
Current forecasts have light to moderate lettuce ice expected through Tuesday, December 26 with a brief warming period expected into the New Year. Markon Inspectors will be monitoring fields and quality and will report back with any further updates.
